Saturday,
October 31, was our Marching Band's last two
competitions. Our Marching Mavericks took 1st place
in their class at Audrey Kell H.S. in the morning
competition, and finished the day at South Rowan H.S.
winning, not only 1st placed in their class but,
GRAND CHAMPIONS for the day. Congratulations!
It has given me great pleasure to be a part of this
group of young and very professional students. At
each competition this year they have shown their
love of music and their competitive spirit, and yet
have been supportive of the other bands as well and
gracious in accepting each award. It has been a
pleasure to be able to say proudly. "We are the
Marching Mavericks" My associated with this fine mix
of young men and women is a memory I will not soon
forget. I thank our staff and all our volunteers
thought-out this season for making the 2009 season
so successful.

I would like
to thank all those involved for making our 3rd
annual Outback Night a tremendous success. Our
volunteers did a great job, especially our committee
chairs, Brent and Barbara Wainscott. The event was a
sell out, and Outback has already inquired about
hosting next year's event. Way to go team!
Our 3rd annual fruit sale is now in full swing. Our
committee chair is Gwen McClendon.
Please support this fundraiser as we have in the
past. Tuesday we will have the opportunity to enjoy
listening to our High School Concert Band. They have
been working hard and sound great. Please make every
effort to be there and support our very talented
students. Remember, Tuesday, October 27th @ 7 PM
This past Saturday, our Marching Mavericks performed
in two back to back competitions. The first
competition was at Porter Ridge H.S. where they took
1st place in their class AGAIN, AND received the Jim
Hill Award for the highest scoring Union County Band
regardless of class. At the second competition, at
Hickory Ridge, they took 2nd place in their class.
The conclusion of this year's Marching Band season
will be Saturday, October 31st with another double
header. Our first stop Saturday will be at Ardrey
Kell H.S. and the second will be at South Rowan H.S.
Please congratulate our students for their excellent
performance this year and wish them continued
success this weekend.

The Marching
Maverick's competition season has begun. Although
last Saturday was a long and wet day, the students
did fantastic by winning 1st Place in their class at
Mt. Pleasant HS. This past Saturday, our Marching
Mavericks did it again! Winning 1st in their class
and moving into the finals makes us so proud of our
students.
We are also very grateful for our volunteers.
Although the Band Boosters know that we have the
best parents around, it was nice to see them finally
get the recognition they deserve. The Marching
Mavericks Pit Crew took 1st place in Saturday's
competition.
I would ask everyone to congratulate Bobby Williams,
our Pit Crew Chief, and all of our Pit Crew for the
hard work and efforts they put towards our program.
Please also recognize our Band for their
accomplishments thus far and wish them further
success in our next competition at Western Carolina
University this weekend October 10-11

I would like to express my
deepest gratitude for all the long hours and hard
work everyone put forth to make our Marching Band
Preview Show an outstanding evening. Our Band
program could not be the fun, competitive and
SUCCESSFUL program it is, without each of your
efforts and enthusiasm.
Although the weather did not
cooperate, we as an organization, through our
planning and execution of the event, out-shined
Mother Nature herself, and as the saying goes..."You
don't fool with Mother Nature."
I am very pleased with all we
have achieved in such a short time as a Booster
Club.
Thank you again for all that
you do!!!!!!
Sincerely, Jim Cronley Band Booster President

Band Booster
Membership is a
vital part of our band program at Marvin Ridge. MRBB is
a parent organization that supports all band activities.
All parents of our band members are invited to
participate in the Band Booster activities and to attend
the Band Booster meetings. Membership allows you a
vote at our general meetings. Your annual fee of
$35 helps to fund the numerous expenditures that a
program of the nature encounters. We thank you in
advance for taking an interest in our program and
welcome you to MRBB. Please fill out our
membership form
(click here) and place it and payment in either
of the band boosters boxes located in each of the band
rooms.
Thank You
to our Local Sponsors!
Marvin Ridge Band Boosters would like to thank the
following local businesses for their sponsorship to our

appreciated! We encourage our band families
to visit these businesses when in need of their
