Welcome to the Marvin Ridge
High School Band program! You and your child are about
to begin a very exciting four years. It’s hard to
explain the energy and enthusiasm of this organization
but as you start coming to events you will find parents
and students from past years with the same excitement
that you will be experiencing. This band is starting to
develop a wonderful tradition. Yes, performing is fun,
but let’s not forget what is truly important—hard work,
discipline, endurance, being gracious no matter how well
you perform, developing musical appreciation and skills,
and forging new friendships. These are far more
important than any trophies and championships! You’ll
find that these are the qualities that Ms. Isenhour and
Mr. James continue to stress everyday. It is our job as
parents to reinforce these ideals to our children.
Please remember it’s just as important for parents to
show great sportsmanship and character as it is for our
band to do so. Let’s be a part of this “first class
operation” throughout the year.
The High School Band is
a unique organization within a school and community.
It not only serves as a class to teach music
education to the students, but the band also becomes
an ambassador for our school and community. Our band
students are the cream of the crop, and they take
pride in striving for excellence. In this pursuit of
music excellence, it is my hope that each student
will become educated as a performer, consumer, and
listener of music. With studies showing that at
least 80% of students involved in a school music
program are never involved in gangs, drugs or
alcohol - having the band room as a hang-out is more
important now than ever before.
I
wish to thank the parents, the school
administration, and the business community for their
continued support of the Marvin Ridge band program.
All of these ingredients, along with our fantastic
students, help our band program to be successful. As
our band students represent our school and community
at various area events, I hope that you are able to
"Share The Pride!"
