Middle School Director's Corner

Middle School Director
Mrs. Jennifer Isenhour

is a proud graduate of Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.  During her time at Appalachian she performed with the university's premiere ensembles, tutored music theory and aural skills, and served as Vice President for the CMENC chapter.  After graduating in 2004, Mrs. Isenhour taught her first year at Platte Valley Middle and High School in the small town of Kersey, Colorado.  She was the band and chorus teacher for grades 6 through 12, a job formerly taught by two full-time teachers.  She not only increased the size of the music program in Platte Valley, but also received superior ratings with her performing ensembles as well as fostering a relationship between her school and the University of Northern Colorado.

Mrs. Isenhour returned home from Colorado with her husband, Justin, and taught one year in Charlotte Mecklenburg schools before finding a happy home at Marvin Ridge Middle School in Union County.  At MRMS, she has founded a rapidly growing band program of superior quality and continues to work passionately to offer her students the best music education that they can receive.  This year performances will include SCDBA Concert Band Festival and Carowinds Band Festival in addition to Winter and Spring concerts at the school.

Professional memberships for Mrs. Isenhour include MENC, NCMEA, UCBA, Creative Motion Alliance.  She is a freelance performer and teacher in the Charlotte area and performs with the Carolinas Wind Orchestra of Winthrop University, where she will begin work towards her Masters degree in Wind Conducting in the spring of 2008.  Mrs. Isenhour resides in Fort Mill, SC with her husband, Justin and two cats, Billy and Sanchez.
